- Connected minute
- A minute of a call that was answered. Most Indian providers bill these rather than every minute spent dialling.
- Connect rate
- The share of dialled numbers that are answered. It decides how many conversations your budget buys, so it drives cost per outcome rather than cost per minute.
- Average handle time (AHT)
- How long a typical conversation lasts. On a per-minute contract this is the single biggest lever on your bill; on per-call and per-outcome contracts it changes nothing.
- DID
- Direct Inward Dialling — the Indian phone number the agent calls from and receives on. Usually a separate monthly rental unless the plan is fully managed.
- PSTN
- The public telephone network. PSTN minutes are the carrier’s charge for carrying the call, billed on top of a platform fee unless stated otherwise.
- DLT
- TRAI’s Distributed Ledger Technology registration for commercial calling and messaging in India. The entity, the header and the templates all register before traffic flows.
- DND / NDNC
- The Do Not Disturb registry. Promotional calling lists must be scrubbed against it at dial time, and responsibility sits with the business running the campaign.
- STT, LLM and TTS
- Speech to text, the language model, and text to speech. Three separately metered services inside every AI call. A rate either includes them, passes them through at cost, or expects you to supply your own keys.
- BYOK
- Bring your own keys. You hold the accounts for the AI models and pay those bills directly, which moves the cost off the quote rather than out of it.
- Platform fee
- A fixed monthly charge for access, separate from usage. Spread across few minutes it can dominate the effective rate, which is why the calculator above asks for it.
- Effective rate
- The number that matters: total monthly spend divided by connected minutes, with every component and GST included. It is the only per-minute figure worth comparing between two providers.
